Sigma Kappas tell in their own words why they are supporting a new house for the Alpha Delta chapter at the University of Tennessee.

Sigma Kappa has always held a warm spot in my heart. For many years I worked as an advisor for the VP of recruitment. It was an incredible delight to work with the girls and to see how Sigma Kappa inspires and nurtures them through college. I met and worked with such talented and awesome women who I can still call my sisters.
In college I was what we called back then the “Pledge Trainer.” It was great fun and inspired me to stay involved with the chapter all these years. One thing that always rubbed me the wrong way was the discrepancy between the fraternities and sororities. The fraternities had those beautiful houses and could grow their chapters to any size they wanted, while the sororities had to be content with living in the dormitories and being cramped in the Panhellenic building--not to mention the safety concerns inherent in the deterioration of the Pan building.
I am now retired. My husband and I owned an insurance agency for 25 years, selling it three years ago. I now have 4 grandchildren and two are 4-month-old twin girls. I’m thinking two legacies!
So when asked if I’d contribute to this house it was a resounding YES! It’s about time. I’m totally committed personally as Corporation Board president and financially, to seeing this come through for our sisters.

I am involved in the Sigma Kappa Corporation Board because I am excited about the future women of Sigma Kappa and what they can accomplish. I look forward to helping provide the best living and learning environment while at UT.
I am contributing to the Sigma Kappa Sorority House on campus because I think it will be so neat to be able to live in a house with sorority sisters. The dorm just doesn't cut it. The house will have a yard, a kitchen, transportation directly to campus and many amenities that will enhance my future sisters' experiences on campus.
A house is needed because sororities on campus haven't had anything to call their own for so long! Sigma Kappas will enjoy utilizing the benefits of a house for many years to come!
I currently serve on the Sigma Kappa Corporation Board as treasurer. I also enjoy my involvement on the Advisory Council for Patria Foster Care Center as well as in the Knoxville Area Urban League Young Professionals group. I have enjoyed working for the KNS Media Group for the last six years and currently am a media consultant in the advertising department.
My favorite SK activities have always been the formals! I love getting dressed up with my sisters and enjoying a fun night!
As an eighteen-year-old entering the University of Tennessee in 1971, I found a special place. It was called Sigma Kappa. Sigma Kappa helped me grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. I found sisters who encouraged me and loved me. I had the opportunity to serve Alpha Delta as scholarship chairman, rush chairman, and president as an active member. I gained confidence and leadership skills which extended well into my career. I met wonderful advisors who became my mentors and lifelong friends
As an alumna, I served Alpha Delta as a rush advisor for a few years after graduation. With the birth of my daughter, who is now 25, and a full time career in education, I lost touch with the chapter and the alumnae group. Two years ago, Anne Dale, whom I had known as an active, called me and asked if I would consider serving on the Alpha Delta Chapter House Corporation Board. I was both honored and thrilled. I wanted to be a part of Sigma Kappa’s future and felt I could give back something to the sorority which had given me much.
The sororities of the university have outgrown the present Panhellenic Building. Parking has practically vanished, and recruitment week has become a challenge under crowded conditions and extreme heat. Safety has become an issue for our young women. The university’s development of the Morgan Hill site for a Sorority Village is a vision come true for sorority women on campus. It is now up to us to make that vision a reality for Sigma Kappa.
I am volunteering and contributing to the housing campaign because I want Sigma Kappa’s strong tradition at the University of Tennessee to continue. With your help and generous contributions, we can achieve our goal. Please join me in this special campaign for the Alpha Delta chapter house. May the special bond of sisterhood be felt by all of us and bring us closer together as we embark on this journey. Let us truly join together “One heart, one way.”

One of my favorite hymns is "Because I Have Been Given Much." The words of this song have been true in my long and blessed life especially as a Sigma Kappa.
Because I have been blessed financially I must give in return to others and share my blessings with them.
Because I have had much love lavished on me by thousands of Sigma Kappa sisters, I must give back that love in ways that will insure comfort and joy for those who come after me.
So, by giving lovingly of myself and my bounty I can truly say thanks and show that, "The Greatest of These Is Love."
